Meet The Stars of Our Billboard: Bill and Jules

Posted: 3rd June 2025

As part of our new billboard campaign, we decided to interview a few of the stars of the big screen – our real-life customers. First up, we’re chatting to Jules…

What do you look for in a home?

Something that feels right when you walk into it. Solid built, light and airy. We have 7 children between us and now we wanted to downsize our house and start building a home for us now. Bill is really handy and has done lots of the work on the house himself.

We knew there were parts of the house that were damp, so we went through planning and took down the garage and utility and rebuilt. We do still have a garden that looks like Steptoe’s Yard though! We wanted to buy a 1930s bungalow. It wasn’t necessarily in a part of Falmouth I would have looked at before, but John and Barnaby got us around right away.

We are actually now looking again, and Lynn has shown us a property as well as Chloe. We knew Barnaby also and of course we have known John a long time and built such a degree of trust. John sold my dad’s house as well.

How many times have you moved?

I come from an Airforce household, so we moved a lot but when Bill and I got together 18 years ago, we moved into a property on Penmere Hill. This was the first time we’ve bought a home together - this house is just for us.

What do you look for in an estate agent?

People who are interested and listen and are on board with the property you want. Not simply sending you everything but truly listening and looking out for you. An agent who you know when you’re selling, they will buy into what you’ve done for your house and sell to the very best potential. They will tell you if there is something they think needs to be changed or give advice. And an accurate valuation!

What was the experience like of working with Heather & Lay?

Brilliant! We bought and sold with Heather & Lay, and they were really good, we ended up with 3 sales falling through with the chain collapsing but they were so supportive. They were corresponding with the person we bought from and reassured him. Without them negotiating for us it wouldn’t have gone as well as it did. They were really good at selling our house and encouraging buyers to come and look at it. They saw the very best in our property from the beginning.

We were always well informed, no issues, they also kept us up to date about the market and when things were changing. They seemed to be very aware of what was going on locally. Having a local agent who knows the market so well and lived and worked in the area is really valuable.

And lastly, our favourite question for our No Place Like Home Campaign - What does home mean to you?

 Safety and security.

We completely agree! Thank you, Jules, for your time and to you and Bill for agreeing to feature in our latest campaign. And good luck with the new new home!

How much is your property worth?
