6 Interesting Independent Shops on Falmouth High Street

Posted: 26th June 2023

We are lucky enough to be based in the centre of Falmouth, so we can visit the local shops easily. We decided to do a round-up of some of the interesting shops on Falmouth High Street, this is really considered the “Independent Quarter” of Falmouth and if you’re looking for an artisan gift or a perfectly mixed cocktail (Hello The Chintz), then you are in the right place. You’ll find so much character and quirkiness in this street, it’s the perfect spot to buy a beautiful gift. This is the first blog post in our series, and we hope to visit every street and write about boutiques and eateries throughout the town (any excuse for a coffee). Without further ado… to the High Street!

Mirri Damer

Nestled on Falmouth High Street, Mirri Damer is one of the most unique jewellers in Cornwall. Original, contemporary, ethical and inspired by the beauty of the Cornish coastline, each piece is a work of art. Combining a sense of sculpture with the spirit of Cornwall, the jewellery is modern and mesmerising in equal measure. With pieces available to purchase from her collection or bespoke commissions, these one-of-a-kind designs are certainly something special.

Parade

When it comes to fashion, look no further. Helen at Parade on Falmouth High Street has the answer. Stylish yet unique knitwear, summer dresses that are effortlessly elegant and the most funky and fab accessories and jewellery, this is fashion, Falmouth style. Full of colour and with a window display that makes you want to change your entire wardrobe; this is your one-stop shop for style.

Greenbank Books

The feeling of walking into Greenbank Books is like the opening chapter to a brilliant story. A treasure trove of titles, there are books spanning so many genres, from different decades and destinations. This unique book shop has been in Falmouth for a long time and has been run by Julius for the past 12 years. Every time we pop in there is a title to catch our eye, whether art, history, literature or photography, nothing beats an independent book shop.

Love and Honor

Our favourite space for beauty and simplicity, Love & Honor on Falmouth High Street is a real retreat. Renowned for the most beautiful fresh flowers and with homeware and gifts alongside, here you’ll find pretty ceramics, artisan soaps fresh from France, art prints and pastel blooms. It really is a treat for the senses and the best place for a pretty bouquet!

Stitches & Cream

A beautiful boutique stocking natural fibre yarns, contemporary dressmaking fabrics and sewing, knitting and craft products from local independent suppliers and creatives. Here you’ll find a haven for people who want to learn to sew, knit or crochet in a bright independent space. Whether you’re new to knitting or a dab hand with a needle, you’ll be welcomed with open yarn and a friendly smile.

Cloudberry

A stylish lifestyle store featuring Scandinavian design, Cloudberry is at the top of the High Street and has everything you could want for the home and Home is our name at Heather & Lay; we believe the tiny touches make all of the difference. From scented candles and placemats to beautiful linen tea towels, rugs, throws, lighting and cushions. Here you’ll find aromatherapy, stationery, jewellery and diffusers, there’s something for every area of life. From furniture to textiles, homeware to wellbeing. An abundance of interior inspiration to transform your house into a home.

So, there you have it, 6 interesting independent shops on Falmouth High Street. And this is only a handful. There are antiques shops, Clay’s, the local barber and even a Museum of Magic and Folklore, it’s a unique place indeed.  And on that note, it’s lunch break for us so I think we’ll be having a little meander around the local shops ourselves.
