THE LOCATION Madeira Walk is a very special place indeed where a small handful of individual homes face south, overlooking the sea and coast. Madeira Walk is a less well-known continuation of Boscawen Road, its private lane access only serving eight homes and ensuring a relatively traffic free and much more private and secluded setting than is usual along Falmouth's seafront.
We consider Madeira Walk to be the absolute "pick" of Falmouth's seafront addresses; availability here is a rarity and opportunity. The bay, Swanpool Beach and the coastal footpath are a few moments' walk away and accessed from steps at the end of the garden. Indeed, so much of what is blissful about Falmouth, is right on one's doorstep here, whilst its tucked away position maintains an exclusivity and charm, which we believe, makes it unique.
Madeira Walk is situated on Falmouth's southern side, about ¾ of a mile from the town and harbour, where there is an excellent and varied selection of restaurants and an eclectic mixture of individual shops as well as national chains together with quality galleries showcasing local talent. Nearby train stations (Falmouth Town and Penmere Halt) provide a convenient link to the main line at Truro for Exeter and London Paddington.
Falmouth has a year-round vibrant community, there are five primary schools and one secondary school in the town and highly regarded Independent Schools in nearby Truro.
Falmouth boasts the third largest natural harbour in the world and is renowned for its maritime facilities, which offer some of the best boating and sailing opportunities in the country. Falmouth is consistently ranked as one of the top five places to live in the UK.
THE PROPERTY A detached bungalow in a comparable garden where sea views are plentiful. We estimate it was built in the 1950's and the property is now in need of some modernisation or the new owner may decide to re-build (subject to the usual planning consents). There is currently two bedrooms and two reception rooms, or three bedrooms and one reception room. We would advise the new owner to take the wall down between bedroom one and the sitting room (and possibly even the kitchen), to make an open-plan living area that could possibly lead out to a balcony. Should the new owner keep the existing property, works would include re-wiring, new windows and doors, new kitchen and bathroom plus landscaping of the gardens. Approximately 10 meters from the property is a footpath down to Swanpool beach and the nature reserve, a swim in the sea means a very short walk back home and a warm shower.
This isn't for the fainthearted or DIY enthusiast but the prospect of having a home finished to a high standard in an amazing location should appeal to many.
